Learn Spanish in Alajuela

Alajuela, Costa Rica, is the capital of the Alajuela Province in central Costa Rica. A walkable city with pleasant weather, Alajuela has a population of about 46,000. It is located about 12 miles from the capital of Costa Rica, San Jose. There are several cathedrals in the center of town, and the city is split into 14 neighborhoods, known as distritos. Alajuela is the closest major city to the Poas Volcano National Park, where the adventurous can take a guided tour to the top of this active volcano and actually see into the crater!
