Learn Spanish in Nicoya

Nicoya is located on the Nicoya Peninsula in the province of Guanacaste in northwestern Costa Rica. Known as the political and cultural capital of the peninsula, Nicoya serves as a hub for exploring the beaches, refuges, and national parks nearby. About a 5 hour drive from the capital, San Jose, Nicoya is thought to be one of the oldest towns in Costa Rica. The town boasts a church from the 1600’s, the Iglesia de San Blas, which is home to many cultural relics and is well worth a visit. Nicoya boasts many open-air markets, restaurants, and art galleries. While there, make sure to buy some of the traditional local pottery!
