Nicoya is located on the Nicoya Peninsula in the province of Guanacaste in northwestern Costa Rica. Known as the political and cultural capital of the peninsula, Nicoya serves as a hub for exploring the beaches, refuges, and national parks nearby. About a 5 hour drive from the capital, San Jose, Nicoya is thought to be one of the oldest towns in Costa Rica. The town boasts a church from the 1600’s, the Iglesia de San Blas, which is home to many cultural relics and is well worth a visit.
