Learn Spanish in Turriabla
A tiny town located in Costa Rica’s Central Valley, Turriabla is about 33 miles from the capital of San Jose. Turriabla serves as a hub for white water rafting enthusiasts, with the best rafting in the country nearby. This city also boasts direct access to a volcano’s crater at the Turrialba Volcano National Park, where on a clear day visitors can see the Irazu, Poas, and Barva Volcanoes in the distance. Another reason to visit is the Guayabo National Monument, which is Costa Rica’s only pre-Colombian site open for public viewing. The ruins are estimated to date back 3,000 years. For baseball fans, it is interesting to note that Rawlings baseballs, which are used in Major League games, are manufactured in Turriabla.
